CPCR Express and Cleveron to implement new postal technologies in Russia

05.05.2010

The agreement between CPCR Express and Cleveron signifies the beginning of cooperation between the companies. This should result in the creation of a parcel locker network covering the whole Russia.

The goal is to install at least 100 parcel lockers in larger Russian cities during the first year of cooperation. The first lockers will be tested in Moscow and St. Petersburg. One of the targets is also the operational connection of Russian and Estonian networks. This will enable parcel sending between two countries.

Much like ATMs help people deal with cash more comfortably, parcel lockers situated in shopping centers and other public places enable customers to send and pick up parcels quickly and effortlessly.

A functioning parcel locker network will provide a good means of delivery for the rapidly growing E-commerce and mail-order business in the Russian market.

General Director of CPCR Express Vladimir Solodkin said that this is an important postal technology breakthrough for Russia. This is a revolutionary step in Russian postal services technology and good example of how private capital can produce remarkable innovations in effectiveness for the general public and enables also to world’s largest e-commerce companies to enter Russian market, explained Mr. Solodkin.

CPCR Express’s other services are currently available in 3000 cities, towns and villages all over the country. The company is also the winner of the annual “Best company in Russia” national prize.

This deal is an important step for Cleveron since it will help us to setup our concept in a new market and will prove in addition to Estonia’s success, that this is the way forward in postal technology,

Cleveron’s CEO Arno

Kütt He explained that the company aims to export the technology along with a tested business model.

Technology, that has been developed since 2007, has been operated in Estonia as a network for one year. Successful operation of network helps us to provide our technology customers, like CPCR Express, services with proven and tested quality,

Kütt added.

Cleveron has been running a network of 36 parcel lockers in Estonia for one year under the brand name SmartPOST. The service gained rapid popularity in 2009 when already 5% of the population used the service and the average number of parcels sent quadrupled. Cleveron also received the Logistics Deed of the Year 2009 award in Estonia.
